Shahin Sadeghzadeh
Founder of Solook
For Shahin Sadeghzadeh, Solook is more than the name of an organization. It is the reflection of a journey shaped by years of exploration, experience, learning, and living—a journey toward a deeper understanding of the self, inner peace, and conscious living.
From Academic Study to an Inner Journey
Born in Mashhad in 1970, Shahin Sadeghzadeh began her academic studies in Geology at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad and later earned a master’s degree in Petrology from Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran. Over time, however, her interests expanded beyond the boundaries of academic study into yoga, meditation, philosophy, mysticism, literature, and the exploration of the human experience.
From Yoga and Meditation to Self-Discovery
A significant part of her personal and professional journey has been devoted to yoga and meditation. She founded New Birth Yoga Academy, where she spent many years teaching and exploring yoga, meditation, and the connection between body, mind, and spirit.
The academy operated from 2003 to 2018. Over nearly fourteen years, Shahin gained extensive experience teaching and accompanying individuals on their own journeys toward greater peace, balance, and a deeper understanding of themselves.
For her, yoga and meditation are more than a set of practices. They are pathways toward greater presence in life and a more conscious relationship with oneself and the world around us.
Literature, Rumi, and the Search for Meaning
Persian literature has been part of Shahin Sadeghzadeh’s world since childhood. Growing up in an environment enriched by books, poetry, art, and conversation laid the foundation for her deep connection with the works of Rumi, Hafez, and Saadi.
Over the years, this passion developed into a deeper path of study and research. For nearly a decade, she has studied, explored, and interpreted the poetry and teachings of Rumi and has presented more than 150 talks and gatherings in Toronto and Iran. She has also twice appeared as a guest speaker at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences.
In her view, Rumi’s poetry does not belong only to the past. It remains a living language through which we can explore timeless questions about love, freedom, self-discovery, and the meaning of life.

Writing and Poetry
Writing is another important part of her journey. Shahin Sadeghzadeh has published four books in Toronto focusing on spirituality and personal growth, including a collection of poetry.
Her poetry has also appeared in literary publications including Asymptote, Arc Poetry, The Puritan, and Chameh.
For her, poetry and writing are an extension of the same journey she follows through meditation, dialogue, and self-discovery—a way of seeing, questioning, and moving closer to the depth of human experience.

The Birth of Solook
Solook grew from the coming together of these experiences—yoga and meditation, poetry and literature, art and culture, meaningful dialogue, community gatherings, and charitable initiatives.
Shahin Sadeghzadeh envisions Solook as a space for sharing the insights and experiences gathered throughout her own journey—a place where people can step away from the pace of everyday life, turn inward, and experience a deeper connection with themselves and with others.
In her view, life is found neither in the past nor in the future, but in the present moment.
Solook is an invitation to be present—to see, to listen, to experience, and to return to oneself.
